Modern Spidey: Not your grandpa’s Spiderman

Are we pissed off yet?  Wait, let’s start at the beginning.

I was overjoyed when I heard about the studios making a blockbuster version of one of my favorite superheros, Spiderman.  And while the first Spiderman had some issues with the visual effects, it was a solid attempt.  Peter Parker’s character was believable.  They made him out to be the nerd we all needed him to be.

Then came part two and finally part three.  I’m not impressed.  Too… cookie-cutter-Hollywoodish for my tastes.  And, just like normal Hollywood, version four is on it’s way with a new and improved Peter Parker.  Andrew Garfield will play the role.  Look at the image below.  Does this look like the face of a nerd who’s struggled, socially, throughout his entire life?  Come on!  I mean, I know you gotta get paid, but stooping this low is even below you.

I’m pissed.  They are raping the image of one of our greatest super heroes.

About Lyn May

Designer, engineer, producer; I haven't really decided yet. Maybe I'll keep it that way - it's much easier to be undecided any way. I love graphic design, writing, photography, video production, animation, playing guitar, singing, engineering and pretty much any other medium that allows me to express my self artistically/logically.
